HackIt Tech
Starting prices — updated periodically
Every price below is a starting price. Unexpected complexity, irregular hardware (Apple devices especially), extended hold times, or other atypical circumstances can raise the final cost — you’ll always hear about it before it happens.
Things that commonly push a price up:
The diagnostic fee is expected regardless of whether a repair proceeds, unless HackIt Tech is at reasonable fault for being unable to diagnose the issue.
Simple file transfer: images, downloads, files. No programs.
Bit-by-bit clone
Software failures / gracefully dying drives only.
General care package
$350CPU repaste, physical cleaning, OS update, driver install, bloatware removal, and virus scan.
Includes repasting.
General care package
$250CPU repaste, physical cleaning, OS update, driver install, bloatware removal, and virus scan.
Requires an ordered part — subject to a sourcing fee (minimum $10), charged before the part is purchased. See Parts Sourcing.
Full Android support, including bloatware/adware removal — a common issue on Android from sideloaded or pre-installed apps. iOS support covers setup, data transfer, and general troubleshooting; malware/bloat removal isn’t typically applicable on iOS given Apple’s closed ecosystem.
OS install, driver install, bloatware removal, Windows setup, etc.
Budget & style consulting, ordering & handling, assembly, device setup.
Full device build + data transfer, overclocking, software installation, RGB customization.
Requires an ordered part — subject to a sourcing fee (minimum $10), charged before the part is purchased. See Parts Sourcing.
Time is rounded to the nearest 30-minute increment for billing. Sessions landing close to a bracket boundary are often rounded in your favor at HackIt Tech’s discretion — a goodwill practice, not a guaranteed entitlement.
Full setup incl. wireless/network configuration.
Assumes physical labor (mounting, moving, cable routing) and/or full smart-TV configuration.
Remote support mirrors 1-on-1 pricing above, minus any driving fee. Scope is limited to software troubleshooting that doesn’t require hardware access — login/account issues, driver installation, general guidance. Remote sessions don’t include OS reinstalls or any fix carrying meaningful risk of the system losing network connectivity or failing to boot, since that would strand the session. Issues requiring hardware access or a full OS reinstall need an in-person visit.
Rounding in your favor near a distance-tier boundary is applied at HackIt Tech’s discretion. Cancellations made less than 1 hour before a scheduled visit may be charged the applicable base/travel fee — this is waived at HackIt Tech’s discretion when the cancellation has no realistic scheduling impact.
A 20% upcharge on the total service cost, plus any expedited shipping costs for parts. Rush service moves your device to the front of the queue as the highest current priority, with an updated (soft, non-guaranteed) timeframe communicated to you. This is a prioritization commitment, not a hard delivery guarantee — timeframes remain subject to parts availability and shipping carrier performance.
Parts ordered on your behalf are subject to a sourcing fee (minimum $10) to cover procurement — you’ll see the total before anything is purchased, and payment for the part is collected upfront, before HackIt Tech buys it (see Payment). If a sourced part fails and the failure isn’t due to HackIt Tech’s workmanship, HackIt Tech will help facilitate a warranty return or replacement through the original supplier if the part is still within its warranty window — this is facilitation, not a guarantee of replacement, since that depends on the supplier’s own warranty terms.
You have a 30-day window from when HackIt Tech notifies you the device is ready. HackIt Tech will make multiple attempts to reach you before the window closes. If you respond but genuinely can’t pick up the device, storage arrangements can be worked out at HackIt Tech’s discretion. If there’s no response after multiple contact attempts once the 30-day window has passed, HackIt Tech reserves the right to determine next steps for the device — which may include liquidation — consistent with applicable local unclaimed-property practice.
30 days from completion: if the same issue, or an issue heavily related to the original repair, recurs, the re-repair is performed free of charge — this covers HackIt Tech’s workmanship. This warranty doesn’t extend to failure of the physical part itself where the failure isn’t due to HackIt Tech’s installation or workmanship — see Parts Sourcing for the part-failure process.
A few things HackIt Tech offers on a realistic, evaluated-case-by-case basis rather than a fixed price: 3D printer repair/setup, “using AI effectively” consulting, and device recycling/hauling (larger items like full desktop towers or monitors may carry an additional handling fee).
